Man released on bail – Attempted kidnap of British girl, 3 in Lanzarote.

A 62-year old British man from London has been released on bail until next month after being held on suspicion of attempting to kidnap a three-year old British girl.

The family were on holiday in the Spanish island resort of Costa Teguise, Lanzarote.

The actual incident occurred on Monday 30th January last year.

Police have said the delay in issuing the pictures was due to the Spanish police having to exhaust their investigation before the appeal to find the man could then move on to Britain.

The young girl was led away from her parents who were at the time looking around a shopping centre and taken down an alleyway by a man seen to be holding her hand.

The girl’s father shouted and ran to pull his daughter, away from the man, who then left the scene.

It was later when the girl’s family were on the beach after their trip to the shopping centre incident where they saw the same man sat between some rocks and acting suspiciously.

The quick thinking family took a photo of the man in an attempt to identify him.

These pictures were released in the UK for the first time in the last few days.

This incident has similarities to the disappearance of three-year old Madeleine McCann, who went missing in Praia da Luiz Portugal in May 2007.

There have been many leads and alleged sightings that private investigators have investigated however; nothing has come close to establishing whether she is still alive or dead.

The man has been bailed until May where he will then return to Milton Keynes Police station.
