Norwich City defender Sebastien Bassong charged with possessing an offensive weapon.

Norwich City’s Sebastien Bassong who signed with Norwich City for a £4m fee back in August 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur, was fined £1000 and ordered to pay £85 costs after pleading guilty to possession of an offensive weapon.Police stopped the defender near Kings Cross on 27th September.

Officers found a baton in the pocket of the drivers door.

The court hearing was held at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court in London on Monday.

Bassong, a French-born Cameroonian international player, started his career as a graduate of the famous Clairefontaine youth academy.

The Clairefontaine youth academy has produced many top names such as Thierry Henry, Nicolas Anelka and Louis Saha.The baton was confiscated and will be destroyed.
